In 2006, visionary artist and performer Ainsley Burrows founded The Sweet Spot Burlesque, a groundbreaking troupe that has redefined the landscape of burlesque entertainment. Originating in New York City, The Sweet Spot has expanded to over 30 cities across the United States and Canada, captivating audiences with its unique blend of performance poetry, sultry burlesque dance, live music, and comedy. The show is renowned for its high-energy, immersive experiences that celebrate the sexier side of life, inviting attendees to leave their inhibitions at the door and embrace a world where anything can happen.
At its core, The Sweet Spot champions sensuality, empowerment, and inclusiveness. The troupe provides a platform for artists to explore and express the art of tease, weaving satire, artistry, and contemporary pop culture into their performances. This approach not only entertains but also challenges societal norms, encouraging audiences to reflect on and embrace their own unique perspectives. The Sweet Spot's commitment to creating safe and immersive spaces allows individuals to engage in an empowering journey of self-expression, liberating passions, and embracing their sexual desires.
Under the leadership of CEO Laurielle Noel, a first-generation Haitian-American and passionate art enthusiast, The Sweet Spot has become the largest Black burlesque production in the country. Laurielle's diverse background and dedication to creating safe spaces for sex-positive "edutainment" have been instrumental in the show's success. Together with Ainsley Burrows, they have fostered a vibrant community that celebrates sensuality, empowerment, and the magic of self-expression, offering audiences an unforgettable experience that resonates deeply and leaves them in a sweeter place.
